Accreditation and Memberships

SACSCOC Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges

The University of Virginia’s College at Wise is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award the baccalaureate degree. ABET Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology

The University of Virginia’s College at Wise’s Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science is accredited by the Computer Accreditation Commission of ABET.

ACS American Chemical Society

Our Bachelor of Science in Chemistry is approved by the American Chemical Society. The American Chemistry Society promotes excellence in chemistry education for undergraduate students through approval of a rigorous set of standards for baccalaureate chemistry programs.

CCNE Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education

The baccalaureate degree program in nursing at The University of Virginia’s College at Wise is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), 655 K Street NW, Suite 750, Washington, DC 20001, 202-887-6791.

CAEP Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation

The Teacher Education Program is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) from spring 2017 through spring 2020. UVA Wise is a member of the Council of Public Liberal Arts Colleges (COPLAC) and recognized as a College of Distinction.

NASM National Association of Schools of Music

The University of Virginia’s College at Wise is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music.

Student Responsibility

This Catalog is published for the purpose of providing information about UVA Wise and its programs. Contents of this Catalog are subject to change at any time and without notification. Students are responsible for keeping themselves informed of current policies and procedures. While advisors are available to assist with course selection and registration, students are solely responsible for completing major and degree requirements. It is the responsibility of each student to be aware of and to meet the catalog requirements for graduation and to adhere to all rules, regulations and deadlines published in the catalog and in the student handbook. Students are required to participate in all student outcomes assessment activities as deemed appropriate by UVA Wise.

Campus Security-Clery Act

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act (20 USC § 1092(f)) is the landmark federal law that requires colleges and universities across the United States to disclose information about crime on and around their campuses.

UVA Wise is committed to helping the campus community provide for their own safety and security. The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information on campus security and personal safety, including alerts, fire safety, crime prevention tips, and crime statistics.
