The University of Virginia’s College at Wise is a Virginia Board of Education approved program to offer initial teaching endorsements at the elementary and secondary levels. A complete listing of the licensure areas available may be found on the preceding page.

Candidates enrolled at UVA Wise who elects to meet requirements for teacher licensure must be admitted to the Teacher Education Program and must complete the appropriate program of study. Candidates should contact the Director of Teacher Education for assistance in determining their appropriate program. Candidates are advised to contact their academic department concerning departmental regulations relative to teacher education. Candidates seeking a teaching endorsement in PK-6 or Special Education will major in Liberal Arts and Science. Candidates should consult with the Chair of the Department of Education for an academic advisor within the Education Department.
