The University of Virginia’s College at Wise is a Virginia Board of Education approved program to offer initial teaching endorsements in 20 different areas. A complete listing of the licensure areas available may be found on the preceding page.
Candidates enrolled at UVA Wise who elect to meet requirements for teacher licensure must be admitted to the Teacher Education Program and must complete the appropriate program of study. Candidates should contact the Director of Teacher Education for assistance in determining their program coursework. Candidates are advised to contact their academic department advisor concerning departmental regulations relative to teacher education. Candidates seeking a teaching endorsement should follow recommended degree and licensure requirements. Candidates should consult with the Chair of the Department of Education to declare a major and for academic advisor assignment.
