Must complete HIS 3900 with minimum grade of C- first.

Total Credit Hours: 36

*Students who cannot take HIS 4900 for scheduling reasons, may, with permission of the instructor and chair, take a 3000-level course for 4000-level credit by completing a research paper in addition to the other requirements of the course. Students taking this option must also earn a grade of C- or better. Students majoring in history are encouraged to take upper-level courses in other disciplines, especially Philosophy, Women’s Studies or Appalachian Studies.
