Council for Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)

The Department of Education and the Teacher Education Program holds accreditation from the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), the sole nationally recognized accrediting body for educator preparation programs. CAEP’s rigorous standards are developed to ensure excellence in educator preparation and are recognized by the Virginia Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

UVA Wise was granted the maximum seven-year accreditation term (2024-2031), reflecting the program’s high quality and comprehensive compliance with national standards. This accreditation demonstrates the university’s commitment to preparing exceptional educators through peer-reviewed quality assurance and continuous program improvement. The next site review will take place in the Fall 2030.
