ECO 3170 - Environmental Economics

A study of the theory of economic externalities and the environment. Topics include the economics of energy, common property resources, population growth, global climate change, sustainable economic development, and cost-benefit analysis. The course explores the use of policy instruments such as Pigouvian taxes, cap & trade, distribution of property rights, and the Coase Theorem to achieve optimal environmental policy goals.
