ELEMENTARY EDUCATION PK-6 ONLINE PROGRAM

The major is designed for students who have a completed Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS), or Associate of Arts and Science (AAS) degree from a community college. The degree cannot be an applied associate’s degree. This is for online candidates seeking an elementary education endorsement to teach at the PK-6 level.

While students who have a completed associate’s degree typically have all lower level general education courses met, due to the requirements of the Virginia Department of Education for teaching endorsements, other courses may be required if not completed at the community college level. The UVA Wise Department of Education, in coordination with the Office of the Registrar will evaluate transfer credits to make sure that all endorsement requirements are met.

The Department of Education is supported in the administration of the Liberal Arts and Sciences major by the chairs of the Departments of Language and Literature, History and Philosophy, Mathematics and Computer Science, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Visual and Performing Arts.
