Credit(s) 3

The purpose of this course is to allow individual creative exploration of various studio methods and materials, in multiple contexts, for the purpose of developing a personal artistic initiative. Students are required to complete a body of creative work (to be exhibited at the end of each term), as well as participate in group projects, discussions, and lectures on historic and contemporary art issues. The course is specified for art majors of junior status who have completed a minimum of 15 of the required hours toward the major and who submit an acceptable entry portfolio of work. The structure of the course is variable to accommodate relevant learning opportunities beyond the scope of the college classroom.
