BIO 3600 - Molecular Genetics

Credit(s) 4

A comparative study of prokaryotic and eukaryotic genetics. Both Mendelian and molecular genetics will be discussed, with an emphasis on the current knowledge of the molecular nature of genes, their roles in controlling the development and function of organisms, their inheritance and evolution. In the lab students conduct actural research into the genes regulating the development and/or function of a model organism, as well as learn current research strategies and bioinformatic analysis tools.
