GEO 2050 - Introduction To Remote Sensing

Introduction to Remote Sensing introduces the use of remotely sensed information in a geographic information system environment. Emphasis is placed on understanding key concepts important in the fields of earth and natural sciences. Topics include photogrammetry, digital imagery, imagery interpretation, accuracy assessment, change detection and land use/land classification.Students learn through lecture, online reading assignments and hands-on laboratory assignments. Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to acquire remotely sensed satellite imagery from well-respected online data repositories, interpret and access imagery in both natural and false color displays, perform accuracy assessments and enhance change detection skills, Students will be able to easily identify environmental phenomena on satellite imagery.
