MUS 3523 - Advanced Conducting

This course will continue the development of basic conducting techniques introduced in MUS 3520 , as well as the exploration of specific conducting techniques for choral and instrumental ensembles, as will as a general review of instrumental and choral literature. The Choral portion of the course will focus on choral development through warm-ups and breathing exercises, and will explore various examples of choral literature from the Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and contemporary musical eras. The Instrumental portion will emphasize literature for wind ensembles and bands. This course is team-taught, and a course assignment calendar will be provided. Final grades will be equally weighted betweem the choral and instrumental portion of the course.
