PSY 3975 - Writing In Psychology

Credit(s) 3

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to the norms for academic writing in the discipline of psychology. This includes grammar, mechanics, ethical writing practies, APA style, reading and integrating research, and writing as a process. We learn writing by doing, so this class will be writing intensive and students will do more writing in this class than in all of their other psychology classes. Much of the class time will be devoted to practicing and applying the writing skills they are learning. However, there will also be a number of readings and writing activities to be completed outside of class. This class will be challenging, but the more students put into it, the more they will get out of it. If students come to class prepared, take the time to do the assignments, and put a seriouse efforet into the final paper, they will be better prepared for any other final papers, psychology senior seminar, as well as personal or professional writing.
