SCI 3000 - Intro. Sci. Ed. Prek-6 Teacher

This course is an introduction to the field of science education for students intending to teach in grades Pre-K-6. As a foundational course in science education methodology, this course explores topics such as the nature of science and scientific inquiry, constructivism as a learning theory and a teaching perspective, conceptual change, inquiry-based instruction, formative and summative assessment, and national and state science standards, among others. Students will be required to complete 20 hours of supervised observation in a Pre-K-6 science classroom.

Modality: Two lecture hours per week.
