ELEMENTARY EDUCATION PK-6

The major is designed for candidates seeking an elementary education endorsement to teach at the PK-6 level.

Candidates are required to complete the following:

74-75 semester hour core requirements
At least one concentration selected from general language and literature, general mathematics, general science, history/social science
The professional education component

The core requirements for this program also satisfy the general education requirements described previously.

The Department of Education is supported in the administration of the Liberal Arts and Sciences major by the chairs of the Departments of Language and Literature, History and Philosophy, Mathematics and Computer Science, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Visual and Performing Arts.

Exemption from this requirement may be made by demonstrating on a placement test a proficiency equivalent to one year of college language study and/or by successful completion of a foreign language numbered 1030. Students with a completed Associate’s Degree (not Applied) in Arts or Sciences maybe exempt.
