Social Science, Psychology Major, B.S.

The psychology major emphasizes skills that are useful for the student interested in careers where knowledge of human behavior and mental processes are important. However, these skills are especially useful for students who are interested in pursuing graduate studies in psychology and related fields, or careers in mental health services. Students are encouraged to complete a minor in a discipline approved by their advisor and faculty from the chosen discipline. Course requirements are listed below.

Upper Division Psychology Electives


PSY 3XXX/4XXX Upper Level Elective Coursework

(PSY 3600  may not be used to satisfy upper level course requirements)

Total Credit Hours: 51


*Students who plan to attend graduate school are encouraged to take the two-course sequence PSY 3025  and PSY 3030  in place of PSY 3015 . With the two-course sequence, PSY 3030  will count as an upper level elective. Before making a decision students should consult with an advisor in the Department of Social Sciences.
