Students interested in seeking an endorsement in Early Childhood work directly with three- and four-year old children. Early childhood teachers are specialists in providing the learning and developmental needs for children preparing for entry into kindergarten. This endorsement will also prepare educators to work with children in kindergarten with no previous preschool experience. Educators prepare lessons in all core subjects and provide social and physical developmental opportunities to children. This is a fully asynchronous endorsement available to any educator working toward or currently holding a teaching endorsement in the state of Virginia. There is a 45-hour practicum requirement where educators have the opportunity to apply what they are learning through coursework in an early childhood environment.
